On the road the front-wheel drive Opel Vectra is very impressive, delivering a high-level of sophistication & refinement -- a safe haven if you like -- but without totally seceding from its bread-and-butter, mid-sized rootsThe more opulent, more expensive CDX is basically a dead ringer for the CD in most key areas, save for the 3.2-litre ECOTEC V6 powerplant (which is only available in automatic) and extra interior touches: six-stack CD player, velour trim, trip computer and four-spoke steering wheelThe first thing that took my fancy on the CD was the capacious rear-end. There was more than enough room to accommodate my two-child family -- and I'm talking young nippers, ...

Picking the MPS version of the Mazda 6 from the outside is easy if you know where to look. Most obvious change is that bulging bonnet, which is not purely aesthetic, but channels air to the intercooler. Then there's the deep chin spoiler and 15-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in high-performance 18-inch rubber.. Beneath that bulging bonnet lies a significantly new turbocharged engine, which produces 190kW/380Nm compared to the basic 6's 122kW/207Nm naturally aspirated engine. All four wheels can do the driving on the MPS, via a trick electronic all-wheel drive system which can transfer up to 50 per cent of the engine's output to the rear wheels when it deems necessary.Inside, ...

For all their perceived virtues - including almost absolute reliability, great durability, low operating costs, & high resale - the used Toyota Corollas of yore were a typical Japanese automotive appliances, meaning four-wheeled white goods that didn't even try getting your glands going in the visual, dynamic, or driving departments. Corolla's engine is the pick of the bunch, no risk. With the sophistication of VVT-i variable valve timing added to its already brimming larder of technical features, the 1ZZ-FE engine makes more power than any here and runs the largerMitsubishi Lancer close for maximum torque, while boasting the group's highest specific power output and the best power-to-weight ratio. .The only ...

Buy Second Hand Cars For Sale In Ireland The Audi A3 is 50mm longer and wider than before, It also allowed engineers to move the wheels further apart,. This, combined with a lower centre of gravity in the 1200kg hatch, should improve the vehicle's on-road dynamics no end. It's still a compact hatch, so don't expect stretching luxury. The steering wheel tilts and telescopes, and the driver's seat adjusts for height, rake and squab slide. The A3's bootspace is surprisingly big, and managed to hold a week's luggage for two .Woodgrain door trim and alloy ...

Buy Second Hand Cars For Sale In Ireland These days, Renaults look striking and individual. They're realistically priced, equipped to the eyeballs, and brimming with surprise-and-delight. Not to mention world-beating crash safety. No wonder the Megane is now Europe's best-seller.But does it drive like a French car should - decisive and well-weighted at the helm, flowing and adjustable around corners, and capable of blotting every bump on the road? Sort of. The Megane's dynamic raison d'etre is definitely its relaxing ride. The big butt Renault can lay claim to being a soft talker. Both tyre, wind, and suspension noise are all noticeable by their absence .While the Authentique's 1.6 isn't the quietest ...

The Statesman is based on the VY Commodore platform, & share V6 and V8 engines and transmissions, and the basic look. Techno wizardry abounds on the General's biggest, from rear parking sensors to automatic headlights. Electric wing mirrors are heated to reduce fogging, and the passenger side mirror automatically dips when reversing to reduce the chance of 'kerbing' your alloy wheels. Cruise control, electric windows, remote central locking, multi-stack CD player; the luxury duo has everything expected of prestige cars, though not to the level of European models. If you were to sketch an average, nice, neat, modern small sedan, chances are it would finish up looking not unlike a Used Honda Civic GLi. While in no way exciting, let alone compellingly attractive, the GLi's surfacing is skilfully executed and hard to fault, thanks to the clean-cut contours and balanced proportions. At first glance, the four-door Civic's specifications and inclusions are pretty impressive, too. But in some respects, the realities of the GLi fall slightly short of the promise. Beavering away fairly smoothly and discreetly, the GLi's engine is a bit of a puzzle. Less highly specified than the 5-door Civic Vi's same-capacity VTEC-valved version, the sedan's motor ...
