A lot of the time it can be very hard to get into work because of the snow or something like that but the real question to ask is, do people just make excuses on why they cannot get in or are they really stuck in the snow?

If you have a smaller car or perhaps rely on the wonderful public transport you will know how difficult getting in can be in the snow, this is why a boss should actually not be cross if someone cannot get in because of this. So if you are the boss of a company and someone is calling you to say they cant get in because of the weather there is no point in having a go at them.

What about the people with the big cars? Getting into work with a 4 by 4 is more than possible and it isnt that hard to do unless the snow is really that bad, is that really likely. As well as this if you live around an hours walk away from the home why do you not simply walk in? I had to do this last week and there really isnt any excuses on why you cannot do this, unless of course you cannot walk in.

Of course you could always go after something like large van leasing or you could find yourself in need of pickup lease when your car gets stuck in the snow!

next time it snows it would really be wise to think about if you can get in or not. Not being able to get into work means you are costing the company money and potentially a lot of business so take this into consideration.

Failing not getting in by yourself why not look at getting minibus leasing.

With weather forecasters warning us here in Great Britain that the current cold snap could bring some snow how prepared are you for some prolonged freezing temperatures?

The prolonged period of winter weather in 2009 highlighted how unprepared we are in the U.K. usually are for bad winter weather. Perhaps I shouldn’t generalize because people in the north of the British isles tend to fare better than their soft southern counterparts. Scotland tends to be better able to cope with intense wintery conditions as they experience some bad winter weather nearly every year.

One of the issues that arose early in 2009 was that road gritting trucks ran out of grit. It has been suggested that this was due to local authorities running out of money. But it really boils down to inaccurate forecasting. While the south of the United Kingdom can experience some intense winter conditions they tend to be very shortlived. There wasn’t enough grit to cope with the prolonged five weeks of snow.

But how do they cope in countries like Sweden and Norway where they have snow on the ground for much of the winter?

Driving on snow covered, icy roads is treacherous. Not only due to the slippery road surfaces but also as a result of poor visibility. Winter tyres are recommended as an absolute minimum.

Although they do grit their roads in Norway and Sweden this is usually concentrated on busy road junctions. One you are off of the main roads you will find that you are driving on compacted snow. When driving on these road surfaces you must always travel slowly and never make any sudden movements.Overaking is not wise when driving in these conditions.

A good set of winter tyres can be enormously beneficial. Winter tyres contain a small amount of silicone which helps them to remain flexible at low winter temperatures. They also tend to have a heavier tread pattern with fine lateral cuts which help the tyre to put as much surface as possible in contact with the ground.

Another option is snow chains, but it should be remembered that these are really only useful in snow and not much use on icy surfaces. And another option, which is good for icy road surfaces, is studded tyres.

************

When flying from Scotland get the best prices on Glasgow airport parking by booking in advance. The same applies to Edinburgh airport parking and Aberdeen airport parking. You will save up to 60% if you book in advance.
