Whether or not your truck is your livelihood or merely the workhorse you use while working on the farm, a tool box is critical to keep everything organized within the truck bed. Commercially designed truck tool boxes are out there from a diversity of makers, but it’s straightforward to make a wooden box that might perform simply as well. Follow the quick steps.

Measure the gap between the bed rails in the rear of your pickup. Subtract 3 inches from the length to give you the length of your tool box. Next measure from the bottom of your truck bed to the top of the bed rails and add three inches to this measurement to obtian the pinnacle of your box. In this example, we will create it twenty-four inches deep. Cut four 2″x4″ boards to the apex that you just specified, four boards to the length and four to the width. Build a frame from the boards by producing two rectangles with the length plus height boards plus then connecting them with the width boards. Screw everything tightly. Cut the decking boards to fit lengthwise on the box and then cover three of the four sides with decking boards screwed into the frame. Build a top door by laying enough decking boards to cover the top of the box lengthwise plus then cross them with 2 to 3 short sections of decking boards and screw these together.

You can additionally add another hinge plus an additional latch, plus cut the door in half width-wise to make a dual hatch tool box.
